Catman

Dem cat ears. Plastered on memes, on TV commercials, on banal ironic T-shirts and now…hats! And now…ON MY DOME PIECE! Me-ow ow ow!
Remember when I posted a video where Bryanboy and I pranked NY Fashion Week? We wore these wool cat ear hats because I thought it’d give our outfits a whimsical touch. It did. We got stares–and smiles, albeit confused, head-turned-to-the-side ones. It completed me.
The one that Bryan’s wearing was actually borrowed from dear Eva Chen. I saw her wearing the exact same one on her Instagram during the week and I immediately texted her requesting that I borrow for the secret project. She kindly obliged. Bless you Eva Chen, bless you!
And I guess these things became like, a trend or something during fashion week? I’m so confused.
In any case, I don’t think I’ll be wearing my hat any longer. I’m laying it on my table and waiting for someone to steal it. Don’t get me wrong, I love this hat and I think its ridiculousness actually makes it chic. But I feel that it’s too trendy for me, maybe even too cool! Goodbye, cat hat…I bid you adieu!
Here’s how I pulled the hat off:
Paired together with an entirely black outfit from head-to-toe gave me a slick, city look. I felt that these women’s wide-legged trousers from Alexander Wang also were dramatic enough to make the ensemble interesting. The high waist also elongates one’s silhouette and if you’re not so tall and have legs on the shorter side these trousers will instantly give you a few inches! I draped over my Versace blazer like a cape or a cloak–it instantly takes an outfit and makes it more refined. Accessorized with some heavy metal and spikes, I was ready to go to the um, local supermarket to get uh, cat food.

What I’m Wearing: Blazer by Versace, moto vest vintage, mesh sweater by Alexander Wang, high waisted trousers by Alexander Wang, boots by Ben Sherman, chain bracelet a prototype my designer friend at Juicy Couture gave me (don’t know if it’s in production!), hat from Asia (but the same one can be found here) Photos by: Stephen Wilson
