It’s the little things that make me smile.
Like going to Starbucks in a little town called Pueblo, CO.
Going inside a Hobby Lobby and smelling the sweet and spicy smell of cinnamon potpourri.
Driving slowly in and between the narrow highway.
It’s the small details that matter the most.
When your mother brings you grapes instead of melons after a heavy meal.
When a whiff of old paper permeates in air from that old book you re-read years later.
Knowing that those old letters will always be reliably tucked away in your room whenever you visit.
It’s the minute of minutes that you want to hold onto.
The younger cousins that you run around with even though it’s exhausting because you won’t know when you’ll see them next.
Eating lunch with your grandparents who you wish would never leave your side.
Laughing with the family over drinks of soju and slabs of galbi while reminiscing the past.
It’s this life that I long for most but cannot ever seem to own
Moments in time slip through my hands like sand.
If only they were wet
That way I could mold and keep them forever..
